which leaves me tired, but satisfied. Annika, my wife, will
finish her RN degree in January. I am also working on a
novel as well as other smaller writing projects. Annika
serves as first counselor in the primary presidency of the
Lund Ward. I am currently serving on the stake high
council.

Our youngest son Jeffrey (age 13) and I are spending a
sabbatical (from BYU) year in China. We live in a planned
development known as Clifford Estates, which resembles a
comparable community in Southern California, for example:
townhouses with white stucco exteriors and red tile roofs.
There is an artificial lake with putting green and
paddleboats, a clubhouse with pool, weightroom, and sauna,
and a mini-mall. Our neighbors are mainly wealthy Chinese
families who've moved from Hong Kong but maintain business
ties there. I am consulting to the owner of the Estates, who
has recently created a new private school that offers its
ambitious curriculum in both Mandarin and English to a
mostly Cantonese-speaking student body, K-12. Jeff and I
busy ourselves at the school, spend our Sundays with the
Guangzhou Branch, and think often of our family at home. We
have yet to meet Finns here.
