HI there.  I too am a computer weinie with some 45 years wrestling problems 
for the LDS Church.  I am still using PAF 4.0 for the very reasons you so 
clearly delineated.  I suggest you make contact with Salt Lake and see what 
they recommend.  They are the ones who screwed up the latest versions of PAF. 
 I think you will find some very sympathetic people there and good 
information instead of hearsay.

I have exported GED info to 5.0 without a single error.  I wish I could tell 
you what it is that is causing your problems, but I can't.  Of course, I am 
still happy with my 4.0 PAF.  I will only change under extreme protest.  It 
does not appear that 5.0 was done with all the oars in the water from all the 
complaints I see on the board.
