Well, turns out all I needed was a little more sleep--and to install an
older version of Family Treemaker. I needed to have it make version 4.0GEDCOM
as many people aluded to, but in its brain-deadness, it allows you to chose
SLGP as "sealed to parents" when mapping "facts." Thinking "well, yeah, it is
the date people are sealed to their parents" I chose this--instead I needed to
chose the 'SLGC' tag. After re-reading papers on the GEDCOM grammar I had the
epiphany that "if SLGP isn't in the grammar, why use it?". If I use the other
SLGC tag (which is labelled in the dialog box as "seal to child") it all
works. Curiously though if I inspect the GEDCOM it doesn't seem to correlate to
the "legal definition" of how SLGC is supposed to be used (the
context). Whatever. Maybe this is another "take in braindead formats" on the
part of PAF5 in the background. Suffice to say, I'm happy. All checks of all
data between the two tools and my previous printouts correlate. Technology, I
love it. :<
