Today, one of those "free stuff" newsletters that always tries to sell you
something popped up on my screen with an offer of a CD with transcriptions of
tombstone inscriptions from somewhere or other. Somehow, the very notion
strikes me as the epitome of irony. And yes, I know their uses. I own and use
the four CD set of Gloucestershire Memorials (aka "Bigland's") and a few
others but still - will we soon be making promises that we swear are "etched
in vinyl"?
