[PAF] PAF Companion

I bought it, long time back. Now I need to install and use it. (g)

WHAT are the unstated assumptions the thing makes?

I have PAF2.2, PAF 2.31 and PAF 3.0 on the same computer, in directories
named PAF, PAF231, and PAF3. That computer has no CD drive. The vers of
Companion that came was on CD. :(

So, I copied the CD onto a ZIP disc and installed from there.

Installation *appeared* to be smooth -- it reported no errors, asked me
no esoteric questions -- the program group popped up in an almost-empty
space on my desktop (g). So, I figured, OK, step two: tell it where to
find the files.

I clicked on the PAF companion icon, and WINdows promptly crashed.
Uninstalled it, and that went smoothly, no glitches. Reinstall. Crash.
Uninstall; reinstall; crash. Uninstall.

SYS: 486x33, 16M RAM
OS: WIN 3.1

I recall something about PAF Companion HAS to be on the same computer
with PAF3.0. It *appears* from what's happening that 3.0 also has to be
installed via WIN?

Anyway, anyone have any idea how I can make this thing work?
