I suggest that you change the parental relationship from the default
"biological" to "link not proved" or "link challenged". Those are not
the exact words; I am working from memory. I believe that "K" from the
Small Pedigree screen gives access to that option.

A great deal of the time it is spelt incorrectly as 'Encyclopedia'.

May I comment a 2¢ worth tip.

Acutally both spellings are right. Don't forget some words wre the
original Latin or Greek spellings, so whoever spelled the word had that
spelling. Some of these e-mail programs have built in word lists to catch
some of these words.

The thing that gets me annoyed is, ever since the movie "Boyz 'n the
'Hood" came out in 1991, I see a dramtic increase in usage of the letter
"z" on most endings nowadays when it should be "s", if anyone wants to be
politically correct in spelling. But some words do look funny every now
and then, and maybe it was at one time spelled that way.

Or the fact when someone says something with "Anyway" and comes out as
"Anyways" (politically incorrect). Just like a episode of Murphy Brown,
where this one gentleman says, "that's alls I know", when we know it
should be " that's all I know".

keep in mind there are some towns and parish where some spellings were
spelled phonetically and just stuck. So we are trying to stay correct
with spellings, just that a few of us are a bit ignorant of spelling or
wasn't good at spelling bees.

Just something to think about.

Tom

Subject: [PAF] Re. My Abject Apologies.

Hi! There Folks,

I sent a message on 'Accuracy within messages' and I wish to apologise
to one and all for not going about it correctly.

When I decided to write the message it was with the intention of drawing
attention to how persons send info. which has obvious errors in it and I
decided to use a word which I thought was one where it couldn't be
misconstrued.

Well I did put both my feet into it good and proper by using the word
'encyclopaedia' which our American cousins spell without the 'a' after
the 'p'.

I have had a large number of messages most, of which has had a personal
reply.

Last night I received post which consisted of messages on this subject
and all were in the same vein.

Some suggested that two other words would have been better as examples
to use. i.e. 'burried' and cemetary' which in either US English or UK
English are spelled exactly the same. i.e. 'buried' and 'cemetery'.

On hindsight they are correct in that I wouldn't have made such a Boo
Boo, and I wouldn't have the need to write this message now.

However, to try to recover somewhat from all of this and explain why I
didn't use these words was due to these words were being used and
wishing not to embarrass anyone I embarrassed myself.

The use of proper nouns such as person's names and place names do, in my
opinion require a capital letter at the start, which was what I was
trying to suggest with woeful consequences for myself.

Even when you don't pay by the minute as I do for telephone calls, and
therefore write 99.99% of my messages within a word-processor with a
spell checker I do think that preparing the message in a word-processor
and doing a spell check first.

Then cut and paste from the word-processor to the mail package is the
best option for ensuring correctness as it is possible, this is my
option.

Please do think about the thought expressed in this message and if
possible do try to make your messages as correct as possible.

Would all that wrote to me and didn't receive a direct reply please
accept this message in place of one?

Once again my heartfelt apologies for my Boo Boo.

In conclusion I do hope that all had a Merry Christmas and an enjoyable
break.

Best wishes,

Fred MacKay.
