Subject: [PAF] Fw: printing problems
Has anyone ever had their PAF 2.31 program suddenly start printing only
half of the page on any of their printouts?
I have used PAF for several years and suddenly two days ago when I went to
print out a family group sheet there was only half of it there! We even
reinstalled the program today and it made no difference.
No one has made any changes in the printer settings and my word processing
program on the same computer prints out OK so it appears to be a glitch
with PAF. Any suggestions are welcome!
TIA
Pat J.

PAF 2 prints excellent forms, I have been told PAF3 does not handle HP
printers. I bet comp.2 may solve your problem?

Hi! There Folks,
This is just a message to all to let anyone who has sent me mail that I
have had a hard disk crash ending with a replacement.
This is the reason for the delay in replying to any messages sent to
myself, and asking you to be patient for a little.
I have now the task of restoring all as it was before it crashed.
May I take this opportunity to wish all the compliments of the season?
Do have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Best wishes,
Fred MacKay.

I would really be surprised to find that PAF 3.0 does not talk to HP
printers since they are one of the major players in the market. There
are five different printers listed in the PAF 3.0 printer set up
information and there must be a way to make one of the drivers work for
your printer. I have heard that there are some "Windows only" printers
but have never run into one of them. Almost all printers have some
default settings which are common to most printers and sometimes takes a
little experimentation to find the correct driver. Typically the manual
which comes with the printer gives information about alternate drivers.
My printer is an Okidata 24 pin which has no driver in PAF 3.0 but the
manual says that the driver for an Epson 24 pin printer will work and it
does. Choose a more simple printer and try the driver for it. Regards

I received the following from Epson:
<< If you are using the DOS version of WordPerfect, then unfortunately, I
cannot recommend a driver, as the [Epson] Stylus Color 640 is designed to be a
Windows machine. >>
Windows "only" is implied. But it does print from the Word Perfect 5.0
(behind the times, aren't I?) installed at the DOS prompt, using the Epson
LQ-2500/2550 designation. Adjustments need to be made to the margins, but
then it seems to work okay.
