It depends on the Mac machine version and it's operating system. Most of
the older ones will take the Mac version of PAF. Current version is 2.3.1
on the Mac.
The Power Mac can take the IBM version (I believe when is running the op
sys 7.0 or 8.0), There should be some option to import the IBM copy in to
set housekeeping chores to the Mac version. I know it can be done, just
that I don't run across a Mac very often.
Maybe there is someone in the comunity that could help her set up the
program, like a Macintosh support group locally.

Subject: [PAF] Names Submission
Friends;
Yesterday at our local FHC I read the latest(?) edition of notices to
FHCs (not the title, but I forget the actual one). On the last page I
found "Name Submission Guidelines" which I reproduce in part for the
interest of anyone. One change caught my attention - "Do not submit
names of persons not directly related to you." Does this mean the
cancellation of the earlier policy of allowing the submission of data
found in the course of your research particularly when it is of the same
surname?
"Temple patrons should make sure that the information they submit is as
correct as possible. A Member's Guide to Temple and family History Work
gives general name submission instructions. Patrons should also follow
the guidelines outlined below:
* If possible, use a computer program such as Personal Ancestral File to
record your family information. Do not submit names of persons not
directly related to you.
- Select the ancestors for whom you want to do the temple work.
- Check the names in the Ordinance Index to see if the temple work
has already
been done.
- Clear any names without ordinance dates through TempleReady.
NAMES
* Different Surnames for Parent and Child. If the surnames of a child
and father (or mother if no father is given) are not the same, ask
yourself the following questions:
- Is the wrong person listed as a child or parent?
- Is a descriptive term or title listed instead of the surname
(particularly for the
child)?
- Has information been mixed from more than one record?
* Titles and Descriptive Terms. Do not use titles or descriptive terms
in name fields. for example, do NOT use as part of the given name or
surname:
- Mr., Miss or Mrs.
- Jr., Sr., Esq., III, etc.
- Reverend, Pastor, Grandfather, etc.
- Terms such as unknown, un-named, stillborn, living, alias, AKA,
son, daughter, had issue, child, infant, etc.
* Single-letter Names. You may submit names that are only a single
letter. Include a period when appropriate. Do not add information that
is not actually part of the name.
DATES
* Provide complete birth, christening, marriage, death or burial dates
whenever possible.
* Record dates in this format: DAY MONTH YEAR (for example, 15 FEB
1842).
* Do not record a day without a month or a month without a year.
* The date of an event such as a baptism or marriage should not be
earlier than the day the locality where the event was recorded was
actually established or settled. When in doubt, check gazetteers,
geographical dictionaries, local histories or original records.
PLACE-NAMES
* Spell the names of counties correctly, and make sure they are in the
proper state.
* If possible, spell place-names as they were spelled when the original
record was created.
IDENTICAL RECORDS
* When two records are exactly the same, determine if the records refer
to two different people with the same information (for example twins).
If the records do not refer to two different people, submit only one of
the records.
- ----------------------------
I can only believe that the above is the result of a lot of very
poor quality work being submitted to temples. I know that here (Lake
Oswego, Oregon) too many patrons are impatient and lazy.

I don't know if you got an answer to your question. I guess you did not want
to send reports in regular mail. You can print all of the reports in PAF to a
file. This file can be sent though e0mail to someone else. They can print it
out on their computer. The file created is a TEXT file or ASCII file. This
file can be loaded into a wordprocessor program (WordPerfect, Microsoft Word,
etc), or it can be printed by using DOS commands, utilities provided.
To give you specific instructions, I need to know more. What version of PAF are
you using? Do you want to send a file by e-mail? Do you want the receipiant to
print it out? What operating system does your recipient use? (Dos, Windows 3.1,
Windows 95, Windows 98). I am not experienced in MAC alghough I am sure the
transfer can be done.
If you want more info. give me more info. Richard

I think it means something like this (just a theory, so don't quote me):
for example, I send in the family of Abraham Lincoln, which are not
related to me.
I do send in a family of Ulysses S. Grant, since he is a distant relative
of mine through the Edward Fuller (Mayflower Descendancy, which I'm
connected) which translates something like a 6 cousin 4 removed. Where as
Abraham Lincoln is not in my lineage anywhere.
As long as you can prove relationships, I don't think it's a problem.
Now if you are doing all the *surnames* like your own, Then I think they
want to make sure you are related to them.
For example, I have Boellings in St. Louis area, on the Missouri side I
do not know if they are related to me. On the Illinois side, I do know
they are related to me and I have their relationship proven from another
ancestor who move in south central Illinois.
I hope this helps out when you clear names for the Temple. As far as I
know, if you send in to the Ancestral file, I don't think they check it,
since they record your name for a submitter once it's in the file, with
or without sources.
I know some Presidents names were submitted into Ancestral File by a
professional genealogist, but the temple work was not by him (the
submitter), unless it was a relative that is related to the person to
have work done in the temple(just to clear up any quoting if you find any
president you're related to from the IGI/Temple ready).
