no, you can't copy to disk from the printer option for the printout. If
you don't want the print out, turn off the printer to clear the cache
buffer in the printer. At least that what it will do with the epson
printers. I have no idea for the other brands.
And FYI, it will only give a print out of the names ready to be cleared.
It will not have the full dates that it matched unless it was partially
done. I done that to a 1000 name base (using the GEDCOM option instead of
Temple Prep, since this was used for a short time frame, to check those
names to manually enter those dates in my database.)
If this is what you're expecting to do with you database, make sure you
have a blank sheet to match those dates if found on those names. I done
this once. Just make sure you data base has the cleared and submitted
remove so it will allow you to add those dates.

Peter, Sometimes the printer software will allow you to "print to dsik",
My Epson Stylus 500 ink jet has a config file, which I can set the
printer to print to disk instead of to printer. Some printers allow you
to configure or setup two "printers", One is set to print to printer,
the other to print to disk, and you can select the printer. Since you
are running win95 there is a strong likelyhood that your printer
software allows this. Also there are print capture programs that
capture the outpout to a printer and send the data to a disk.
I would check Shareware.com or Twocows.com for these programs. Good
Luck, Dick

A freeware program that has been around for years is PRN2FILE. You just
type PRNTFILE (name of file to print to), and when you print in whatever
program you are using, it will go to that file instead of the printer. Each
successive printing will be added to that same file. To go back to printing
to the printer, you type PRN2TFILE PRN.
The problem with using it with TempleReady is that most FHCs have users
locked out of DOS, so you wouldn't be able to get to it, even if you had it
on a disk.

I would suggest that you break up your database and submit in smaller groups.
The instructions from temples now are to check the Ordinance Index BEFORE
using TempleReady. I had a recent experience where TempleReady did not find
duplicates even to let me make a choice. It was a small submittal, only about
10 names were cleared by TempleReady, but 5 of those were found to have the
ordinances completed. I went back and deleted those 5 names from the
submittal. (I may not be remembering correctly, but I thought that all known
ordinance dates were printed on the TempleReady report.)
Going through the Ordinance Index first may not be a quick process, but if it
saves many duplications it will save precious time in the temple.
Another reason for checking the Ordinance Index yourself first is that persons
are frequently in the Ordinance Index more than once. Somtimes one record
will show the baptism and endowments dates and the sealing-to-parents is
"pre-1970" while a second entry will have the sealing-to-parents date and
nothing else. A third record may have another complete set of dates showing
that the ordinances were done before the dates shown in the first two records.
Could you make this a project for your family or your ward to help you with
checking the Ordinance Index?
Sincere congratulations on gathering such a large group of people to send to
the temple.

You are right TempleReady does not pick up all duplicates. I was at
a Regional Family History Meeting in the Portland, OR area a few
months ago and that very thing was brought up. TempleReady is set up
to only scan within a few yrs of the date you put in. I think it was
2 yrs. either way of your date. If the ordinances had been done and
the birth date given as 4 yrs earlier or later it would miss them.
If anyone is interested in the exact limits let me know. I have
the info sheet down at the FHC and can tell you. I think there was
something about location too but can't remember for sure.
This was a rude awakening for me as I had always assumed that running
TempleReady was as good a check as checking the Ordinance list (or the
old IGI) and much easier.

Subject: [PAF] FHC Patron attendance tracking software
I know this is a little off topic, but there are a lot of FHC Staffers
that read this list.
We are looking for commercial/shareware/freeware software that will
track patron attendance at FHC, and print out reports. If your FHC uses
such software, could you please let me know whom to get in contact with
for :
1. a description of the program, and the reports it will generate
2. where to obtain the software.
Thanks, Dick Nowlin asst. FHC Director, Hurst TX Stake FHC
