any program such as e-mail or a word processor. This works in Windows 95.
I'm not certain about others.

Greetings,

We have followed your advice as far as copy and paste to another PAF screen
but failed to paste into an outside file.

It appears that there are two clipboards. We can copy a PAF note, paste
into PAF. We can copy part of a windows file and paste into Notepad, for
instance, and return to PAF and paste - the original PAF note. Return to
Notepad and paste the original windows file. This can be repeated showing
that there appears to be two clipboards.

We await your commenst with interest.

Many thanks to those who responded to my questions. The advice was
unanimous -- to generate a GEDCOM from the 2.31 files and load that
up into 3.0 rather than convert the 2.31 files directly. I did that
last night and this morning.

Just one question. I have followed this procedure using PAF3 and WIN95,
however under properties I am not getting a "screen" tab. Any ideas or
help is appreciated.

Subject: PAF: File error message

Greetings to all:

Need some advice on file error messages. My better half is having a
problem with some of her files. Message says, encountered internal
error, module name-read_record and error message-size error or read.
Computer then kicks out of the PAF program and returns to desktop.

We have run scan file from utility menu to no avail. Also have restored
a backup copy, however the files may not have been backed up soon
enough. Get the same error message.

Using PAF3 with Win95. Any ideas, thoughts, etc. greatfully
appreciated.

Frank

Suggest that you reinstall PAF3.
Step 1. Copy your datafiles to another folder, ALSO copy any file that has a
filename the same as your data files, (these will be AF edit files, and gedcom
listing files, and focus files.) and Report(s).dat file. Becareful and note
which folder they are in (C:\PAF and C:\PAF\DATA)

Step 2. Next delete PAF3 and its folder

Step 3. Reinstall PAF3.

Step 4. Finally copy back the files you saved in step 1, putting them in the
same location from whence they came.

If this dosen't solve your problem, then the problem is with the data.
